Sean Kennedy

Sean Kennedy is director of Expanded Education, a new initiative to bring the power of RISD to the wide world of work. The ExEd team is building a range of educational offerings to help companies unlock business transformation and evolve organizational culture through art and design. This work advances RISD strategy by exploring the intersection of creative practice and business, creating access to new learning experiences and extending our reach and impact in the world.
 
Sean is passionate about making great ideas practical for working people and using learning as a lever to move their organizations forward. He spent 15 years at Harvard Business School Publishing as part of the original team that built the Corporate Learning practice. There he partnered with dozens of Fortune 500 companies to design and implement leadership development programs. Immediately prior to RISD, Sean served as head of learning and content at a boutique firm, where he completely redesigned content and the learning experience in addition to consulting with corporate clients and facilitating senior team interventions.
 
Sean holds a BA from Carleton College and is father to two teenagers. When he’s not at work, you might find him canoeing on the Charles River or camping with his local Scouts troop.
