Ashley Harris

Through glass, Ashley Harris investigates color, fragility, and natural forms, using the medium to move fluidly between sculpture, performance, and installation. Her practice positions glass as a performative and spatial material shaped by movement, collaboration, and site. By weaving personal and collective narratives of belonging into these interdisciplinary frameworks, Harris challenges material hierarchies and expands how glass can be activated and experienced.

Harris lives and works in Providence, RI, where she is a critic in the Glass department at RISD. She earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and attended RISD for her MFA in Glass. Her honors include the 2023 Socrates Sculpture Park Annual Fellowship, the Pilchuck Glass School Fellowship, the Rochester Institute of Technology Glass Studio Artist in Residence, the Assets for Artists Studio Residency at MASS MoCA, the 2025 Black Glass Artist Series at Alfred University, and Arrowmont School of Craft 2026 Pentaculum Residency. 

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Notable exhibitions include GalleryX, Dublin, Ireland; The Museum of American Glass, New Jersey; Socrates Sculpture Park, New York; and the Karen and Ted Koskores Gallery, Massachusetts.
