Ana Popescu

Ana Popescu is a Romanian-American multidisciplinary artist based in Providence, RI. She earned her BFA from Pratt Institute before cofounding an immersive event company in New York City, where she created site-specific installations and curated performance programs under the moniker A.Pop. In parallel, she spent a decade directing large-scale campaigns across the US for major advertising agencies and brands. She later earned her MFA in Ceramics from Rhode Island School of Design.

Popescu’s sculptural practice centers on ceramics, exploring material experimentation through a blend of traditional processes, digital fabrication, and architectural references. Her work has been exhibited internationally in more than two dozen shows in New York City, London, Bucharest, and Providence, and it is featured in the exhibition catalogue for Cluster Crafts London. She currently teaches ceramics in the New England area at The Steel Yard, Anyhow Studios, Small Things Studio, and Fuller Craft Museum and serves as a technical assistant in the Ceramics department at RISD, where she will begin teaching Digital Ceramics in 2027.

Popescu’s grants, awards, and related recognitions include the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) Make Art Grant (2026–27), Anderson Ranch Arts Center Advanced Mentorship Studies Program, full scholarship (2026–28), CERF+ Get Ready Grant (2025), a RISD Fellowship, a Windgate Foundation Scholarship, and a Graduate Ceramic Award from RISD. She has also been recognized by the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, The Art Students League of New York, and Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts.
