Mariela Yeregui

Mariela Yeregui is an artist, researcher, and educator whose practice explores the intersections of art, technology, and critical theory. A pioneer of digital art in Latin America, she investigates how technological systems shape our relationships with bodies, territories, memory, and the living. Her recent work has shifted toward the materiality of affect, examining fragility, repair, and vulnerability through electronic textiles, robotics, participatory practices, and large-scale installations.

Working across sculpture, moving image, performance, public interventions, and networked media, Yeregui understands technology not as a promise of efficiency or progress, but as a situated cultural and political practice. Her projects often emerge through collaborative processes, combining artistic research, community engagement, and experimental forms of knowledge production to question dominant technological imaginaries and propose alternative ways of inhabiting the world.

Yeregui holds a PhD in Media Philosophy from the European Graduate School, an MA in Literature from the Université Nationale de Côte d'Ivoire, and a BA in Art History from the University of Buenos Aires. She founded the Master’s Program in Electronic Arts and the Doctoral Program in Arts and Technoesthetics at the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF). Her work has been exhibited throughout Latin America, Europe, and the United States and forms part of public and private collections, including the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, the National Collection of Argentina, and the Rhizome ArtBase.
