Joanna Booth

Joanna Booth is a printmaker and textile artist whose work centers on the layers of generational information found in the home. Booth was raised in Philadelphia, PA and her practice is heavily influenced by three generations of familial narrative grounded in the city. This manifests visually into urban architectural motifs, abstract figuration, portraiture, and fences.

Booth received her BFA in Studio Art and Black Studies from Amherst College and completed an MFA in Printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited work across New England and Philadelphia and most recently had a solo show in Providence at AS220’s Aborn Gallery. She has attended numerous residencies including the Fabric Workshop and Museum Post Graduate Apprenticeship, the Wassaic Project Artist Residency, the Hambidge Center for Art and Science Residency, the Arrowmont School of Craft Winter Pentaculum, and the Elf School Residency. In addition to teaching at RISD, she is an adjunct lecturer at Brown University.
