Candice C. Chu is an artist and writer. Before joining the faculty at RISD, she taught at New York University, the Pratt Institute, Parsons School of Design, The New School, and Skidmore College. She earned her MFA in studio art from NYU and her BA in history of art and architecture from Brown University and also attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Her work pursues ideas related to affect and lived experience. She takes inspiration from the material and immaterial: from natural landscape, mosaic floors, flowers, and vessels to artist diaries and biographies, as well as the fluidity of time and imperfection of memory. She has published writing in the Brooklyn Rail and traveled on several artist residencies including, most recently, AZWest. This past year she exhibited work at the Dallas Art Fair with Nature of Things.
