Meenakshi Garodia

Meenakshi Garodia is a filmmaker, storyteller, ceramicist, and writer/director working across 16mm film, digital video, and installation. Her work centers on women’s agency and examines the complexities of life for people within patriarchal structures and immigrant experiences. Visually and thematically, her art is often grounded in the natural elements: earth, water, and fire.

Her 16mm experimental film Tan/Vatan has screened internationally, including in Berlin, Kyoto, Beijing, and London, and her narrative short Poshun has played festivals across the US, Italy, and India. She works with physical film because it resists erasure: something you hold, splice, and feel your way through.

She earned her MFA in Film and Media Art from Emerson College and teaches film practices at RISD. She has previously taught analog practices, digital cinematography and directing at RISD, Emerson, and UMass Lowell. Her ceramic work has shown at MassArt and at community fundraisers. She’s a Moth Story Slam winner and has told stories with Story Collider Boston at the MIT Museum.

She serves on the boards of Saheli, which supports survivors of domestic violence, and Brookline Interactive Group, Brookline’s community access television station.
