Kate Fox
Kate Fox is a librarian, educator, and museum professional with a background in decorative arts and design history. Most recently, she served as associate director of the library and archives at St. George’s School in Middletown, RI, where she co-led the school’s information literacy program; collaborated with faculty across disciplines; and contributed to collection development, digital preservation planning, and student library programming.
Before entering librarianship, Kate worked extensively in museums and archives. At Smithsonian Gardens, she curated the traveling exhibition Patios, Pools, & the Invention of the American Backyard and served as project manager for Community of Gardens, a digital storytelling initiative crowdsourcing American garden and landscape history. In New York, she contributed to curatorial and archival projects at the New York Historical, the Lenore G. Tawney Foundation, and the American Craft Council.
Her research interests span topics in both information literacy and the arts, from the role of material culture in research and writing, to the social functions of citation, to the role of oral history in documenting craft movements. She holds an MLIS from the University of Rhode Island, an MA from the Bard Graduate Center, and a BA from Bennington College.
