Critical weather update – RISD to close at 11 am on Sunday, January 25, through Monday, January 26, at 3:30 pm

The National Weather Service is predicting winter storm activity for much of New England and beyond on Sunday, January 25, into Monday, January 26. As a result, RISD will close on Sunday, January 25, at 11:00 am and will re-open on Monday, January 26, at 3:30 pm.

Please be advised that the City of Providence has issued a parking ban that will begin on Sunday, January 25, at 11:00 am, and vehicles parked on city streets will likely be towed. During this campus closure period, students and employees are reminded that RISD parking lots will be closed so that snow can be cleared. If you have a car parked in RISD lots or in city spots, please make alternate arrangements (e.g., paid parking garages).

Hybrid and Remote Employees

Employees with remote or hybrid work status or capabilities are expected to continue to work their normal hours or may use personal or vacation time. If you are not able to work your regular schedule hours, please be in touch with your supervisor.

Essential Employees
