Rami Hammour
Rami Hammour earned a bachelor’s degree of architectural engineering from the University of Damascus, Syria in 2010, and a master’s of architecture from RISD in 2015. He developed a dual interest in building science and architecture as a space for narrative and as a medium that reflects collective and personal biases.
Rami is a licensed architect in New York State and a certified passive house consultant. He has been practicing in New York for 11 years, and has been involved in projects of various scales, with special focus on residential single family passive houses and K-12 educational and public projects. He also designed sets for exhibitions and theater plays in the Middle East.
Rami is interested in building science, especially daylighting and acoustics and the use of these objective quantifiable principles and metrics as tools for creating subjective spatial experiences. He is also interested in drawings as egalitarian and accessible spaces of the imagination used to record thoughts and create spaces. Exploring the capacity of different drawing techniques beyond their conventional use in practice, not only as representation of space but as tools to analyze and compose spaces, and as spaces themselves.
Rami served as a guest critic for design and IBS studios at RISD, Boston Architectural College, and Roger Williams University.
