Liberal Arts Undergraduate Advising

Learn below how your Liberal Arts advisor supports undergraduate students, including navigating course requirements or exploring one of the division’s academic concentrations.

In the spring semester, first-year RISD students are assigned a Liberal Arts faculty advisor. This advisor will help you understand your requirements and explore the possibility of electing one the division’s four undergraduate concentrations. If you declare a Liberal Arts concentration, the concentration coordinator will take over for your previous Liberal Arts advisor.

You may also contact Liberal Arts senior academic specialist Gail Hughes, who can also help clarify Liberal Arts credit requirements, or provide guidance about taking transferring credits from other institutions (both for previously earned credits, or if you’re considering taking a liberal arts class at another institution while enrolled at RISD).

Transfer students may contact senior academic specialist Anna Cimini for help with Liberal Arts requirements and registration for required first-year courses.

(Note: graduate students in Liberal Arts programs receive advising support from their graduate program director and thesis advisor.)
