Tim Bearse
Tim Bearse is a builder and sculptor born in Fall River, MA. His practice draws energy from the dynamic form of DIY skatespots and the act of historic preservation. He is an original contributor to the Lost Bowl in Richmond, VA and the first employee of Site Specific Design Build in Providence, RI.
From 2014–18, he held two visiting assistant professorships—first at The Ohio State University and subsequently at Ohio University. He has exhibited at Nobile Amundsen in Norfolk, VA; Clutch Gallery in Bratislava, Slovakia; Kate Werble Gallery in New York City; and the New Bedford Art Museum in Massachusetts, among others.
Bearse’s community engagements follow in the tradition of voluntary association as observed by Alexis de Tocqueville upon visiting America in 1831, with significant design and construction efforts in the Tidewater region of Virginia, the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, and the village of Marpha, Lower Mustang, Nepal.
He received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010 and a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in 2003, and he was a resident at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2017.
