Running from October 11–16, OPEN RISD, our virtual undergraduate open house event, covers everything you want to know—from applying to RISD to the student experience. Register for student panels, departmental chats and presentations below. And if you miss an event, recordings will be posted on this page as they are available.

Sunday, October 11

  1. Welcome to OPEN RISD

    8–9 pm ET

    Join the Admissions team for a special welcome to OPEN RISD. Discover what the week has in store for you and hear from your Admissions Officer about how they evaluate applications.

Monday, October 12

  1. Experimental and Foundation Studies (EFS)

    8–9 am ET

    Join Joanne Stryker, dean of Experimental and Foundation Studies, for an academic discussion about your first year of study at RISD and how EFS prepares students for the rest of their undergraduate experience.

  2. Residence Life + Student Activities

    12–1 pm ET

    From student-run clubs and organizations to life in Providence, get a taste of what life outside the studio is like for RISD students.

  3. Student Panel: EFS and the Transition to RISD

    8–9 pm ET

    Join RISD students for a discussion about Experimental and Foundation Studies and hear what the beginning of their experiences at RISD were like. Ask questions and get answers in this interactive session.

    Join Brooks Hagan, interim dean of Fine Arts, for an academic discussion about undergraduate Fine Arts majors. Learn about faculty research and work and hear what students in the department are up to.

  3. Career Center

    6–7 pm ET

    Join Kevin Jankowski, head of RISD Careers, for an info-packed session about how the Career Center prepares you for internships and careers. Learn about our global network of industry leaders and the programs that directly connect you to them as a RISD student.

  4. Student Panel: Architecture Majors

Wednesday, October 14

  1. Brown|RISD Dual Degree

    7–8 pm ET

    Brown and RISD partner up for an in-depth discussion about our institutions and how they merge in the Dual Degree program. You'll learn about advising, hear from current "dualies" and learn about admissions and financial aid.

  2. Student Panel: Fine Arts Majors

    8:30–9:30 pm ET
    Join RISD students for a discussion about what it's like to study as Fine Arts majors. Ask questions and get answers in this interactive session.

Thursday, October 15

  1. Design at RISD

    Join Scheri Fultineer, dean of Architecture and Design, for an academic discussion about undergraduate Design majors. Learn about faculty research and work and hear what students in the department are up to.

    1–2 pm ET

    Join this session if you're interested in studying abroad or learning how RISD advocates for cross-cultural learning and exchange as a way to strengthen creative agency.

  3. Social Equity and Inclusion

    Join Tony Johnson, associate dean of Student Social Equity and Inclusion, to learn about the Center for Social Equity and Inclusion, its current initiatives, and how it intersects with academics and student life at RISD.
