Tura Oliveira

Tura Oliveira is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, textiles, metals, sculpture, performance, and film. Their research and work explores horror, labor, class, and gender, drawing on Baroque painting, Italian giallo cinema, and early modern women mystics.

Oliveira received an MFA from the Yale School of Art and a BFA from RISD. Recent solo exhibitions include Breaking Wheel at Boccanera Gallery (Milan) and God of Accidents at Geary Contemporary (New York), alongside earlier solo exhibitions at BRIC, Wave Hill, Disclaimer Gallery, and Vox Populi. Their work has also been presented in group and two-person exhibitions at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Unosunove, the Columbus Museum of Art, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, YveYANG Gallery, Perrotin, and the British School at Rome. Upcoming solo exhibitions include Sargent’s Daughters (New York), Feia (Los Angeles), Unosunove (Rome), and a solo museum exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum of Indianapolis in 2028.

Oliveira was an Abbey Award Fellow at the British School at Rome (2023–24) and has received fellowships and grants from Silver Art Projects, the Endeavor Fellowship at Sarah Lawrence College, Yale School of Art, New York Foundation for the Arts, BRIC, the Museum of Arts and Design, Wave Hill, Ars Nova, A.I.R. Gallery, Yaddo, and the Tides Institute.
