Workspaces and Tools
Furniture Design students have access to a range of state-of-the-art design and production resources, including:
- an extensive wood studio with hand and power tools
- a metal shop with welding and fabrication equipment
- a metals machine shop
- an upholstery lab
- a plastics/alternative materials lab
- a finishing spray booth
- a veneer and rare woods collection
- a laser cutter, Rapid Prototype Machine (RPM) and CNC router, through the Shared Technologies Initiative
- computer lab workstations running SolidWorks, Rhino, Adobe Suite and a range of other design software
Entering sophomores are required to buy a laptop as specified by the department.
