Pushing the boundaries of digital video production, the course was one of two offered through RISD’s Movement Lab this Wintersession.

The recent Film/Animation/Video alum and Student Academy Award-winning animator reflects on his passions for problem solving, the magic of filmmaking, and what RISD taught him about hard work.

Film/Animation/Video students presented their final projects in December, considering such aspects as camera angle, composition, pacing, and framing.

RISD alum Rebecca J. Miller completes the film she began in 1976 about a 1940s Robert Flaherty documentary focused on RISD Professor John Howard Benson that never came to be.

The daylong May 2025 event highlighted novel, hands-on approaches to storytelling, spatial computing and sensory augmentation.

The audience cheered in support as FAV seniors showed their animated and live-action films to a packed RISD Auditorium.

The celebrated pianist and composer used his improvisational skills to collaborate with faculty and students in RISD’s Film/Animation/Video department.
